Mary Motzko sports writer Wisconsin must stop two-game losing streakNobody is happier than the Wisconsin women's basketball team that this week has finally come to an end. After losing back-to-back games to third-ranked Tennessee and in-state rival Marquette, the Badgers take on Indiana-Purdue at Indianapolis University at the Kohl Center this Sunday. If the Badgers are looking for a team to sympathize with them after their disappointing week, IUPUI might be it. In their last game, the Jaguars suffered an 84-63 defeat to Ball State at home. After finishing sixth in the Mid-Continent Conference last season, IUPUI finds itself with a 3-4 record to open this year. Playing the Jaguars at home might be exactly what the Badgers need. After two disappointing losses earlier this week, Wisconsin desperately needs to gain some momentum before they open the Big Ten season on Dec. 30 against Purdue. After being out-rebounded by their last two opponents, the Badgers should have no problem dominating the boards against the Jaguars. With the tallest IUPUI players reaching heights of 6-foot-2, 6-foot-4 Nina Smith should be able to dominate with inside. Following horrific guard-play against Tennessee, sophomore Tamara Moore showed signs of improvement against Marquette. Moore turned in a career-high 24 points against the Golden Eagles on Wednesday. Also showing signs of promise is fellow guard Candas Smith. Smith, who alternates at point guard with senior Dee Dee Pate, has provided the Badgers with a spark off of the bench in recent games. The Badgers will have to shape it up against IUPUI or they might really be in trouble.
