Krista Bird
6'3 Center
Sophomore Junior
Krista came to Wisconsin with
a reputation as a shooter and she's lived up to it. She has a nice
shooting touch to about 16 feet and absolutely no reluctance to shoot the
ball. But she's also been basically a one-dimensional player.
For her size, she isn't a good rebounder and she simply refused to block
out on free throws. Bird is a physical player and she usually works
hard on defense but her feet just won't move fast enough to keep her from
being a defensive liability. It's her feet, at least one of them,
that will likely end up defining her time at Wisconsin. Krista missed
most of her freshman year with a broken bone in her foot and she broke
the same bone this year. I don't know how that will impact her future,
but it's dominated her first two years here. In any event, she's
likely to be the fourth post player next year and should get limited minutes
unless her defense and rebounding improve.
