Kelley Paulus

6' shooting guard/small forward

         Junior               Senior

Paulus junior season can be summed up by the final two weeks of the Big 10 season.  In the second to last week, she was held scoreless for the first time in her collegiate career and looked to be in a fog against Ohio State.  The next week, she was named Big 10 player of the week for her efforts against Illinois and Minnesota.      Kelley came to Wisconsin as a shooter with limited stamina, but she has developed her all-around game and her conditioning now allows her to play as much as needed.  She has added about 5 feet to her shooting range.  She's a good on-ball defender but her lack of quickness means she can be beaten off the dribble by a quick player.  Paulus is a good passer, who has cut down on her turnovers, and she's a scrappy kid who gets more rebounds than someone of her size should.  Mainly, Kelley is a shooter though.  When she's right, her jumper is as pure as can be and she has the ability to get off an acrobatic shot almost at will.  But she does not always look for her shot as much as she should.   She also has a tendency to not be a factor in the first half of a game and then come on strong in the second.  Next year will be Kelley's third year as captain.  As such she will have to be a more consistent player.  When she plays well, the team does too.  She is the emotional leader of the team, but will have to learn to be a steadying influence.
