Indiana coach Jim Izard was fired, by an Indiana administration that had previously not paid much attention to its women's program.  Izard won only 40% of his conference games in eleven years.  That lack of on-court success was offset by a prickly personality that made him one of the most disliked coaches personally in the Big 10.  In the past season, a large number of players have left his program before their eligibility was up.  That enabled Izard to add lack of depth to his extensive list of excuses, magically, none of which included anything lacking on his part.  In the past, Indiana has not been willing to spend the money to upgrade their program.  If that doesn't change, replacing Izard will do nothing but further frustrate the few Hoosier fans out there.

Forward Jamie Gaithing has a stress fracture in her foot that will sideline her until at least Jan 1.  That leave Indiana with 8 players.

Players continue flocking from the Indiana program.  Senior Kameelah Morgan has chosen to leave the team for "personal reasons."  She was the second leading returning scorer and probably second best player on the Hoosiers.  Her departure leaves Izard with nine players.  He, of course, will claim it's not his fault.

Junior college transfer Jalena Lazic failed to meet academic standards and will not be with the Hoosiers in 1999.  She is currently enrolled at Indiana and will play next year if she gets her grades in order.  Lazic came to Indiana as the second ranked jc player in the country in 1999.  The loss is huge for Izard.

Former Auburn player, Erin McGinnis, a 6'1 forward has transferred to Indiana and will be available in the 2000 season.  She is a three point specialist who came off the bench for Auburn

Indiana has received verbal commitments from 5'5 PG Nicki Motto (#174 on the All Star Girls Rankings) of Oakwood Ohio and 5'6 PG Anna Waugh (#88) from Franklin Ind.

Staci Mueller became the third player to leave the Hoosiers when she announced she was transferring to Charleton Southern.

Jennifer Jacoby from hated Purdue has been promoted to recruiting coordinator and Melanie Stephens has been hired as the number two assistant.  The vacancy was created when Renee Reed took the top assistant job at Illinois.
